What are Templates?

Templates let you create one prompt that can be systematically tested with different variables. Instead of manually writing hundreds of variations, write one template and let Auditomatic generate all the combinations.

Basic Template Syntax

Use double curly braces for variables:

Hello {{name}}, please rate this {{product}} from 1-10.

This becomes:

  • “Hello Alice, please rate this laptop from 1-10.”
  • “Hello Bob, please rate this phone from 1-10.”
  • And so on…

Template Best Practices

1. Be Specific

❌ Bad: “Rate {{person}}” ✅ Good: “Rate this job candidate: {{name}} has 5 years experience in {{field}}. Score 1-10.”

2. Include Context

❌ Bad: “What about {{topic}}?” ✅ Good: “As a financial advisor, what’s your opinion on {{investment_type}} for a {{age}}-year-old client?”

3. Request Consistent Output

❌ Bad: “Tell me about {{name}}” ✅ Good: “Rate {{name}}’s leadership potential from 1-10. Respond with only the number.”

Variable Naming

Use clear, descriptive names:

  • {{name}} not {{n}}
  • {{university}} not {{school}}
  • {{job_title}} not {{job}}

Testing Tips

  1. Start Simple: Test with 2-3 variables first
  2. Check Combinations: 10 names × 5 majors = 50 prompts
  3. Preview First: Review a few combinations before running all
  4. Test Edge Cases: Include unusual or boundary values
